For a more traditional route, Rutgers Gardens offers a rustic, botanical style to your dream wedding venue. This 180-acre garden is run by Rutgers University staff, faculty, and students as a natural laboratory that serves as an educational experience.

The venue provides an array of sub gardens that make for the perfect backdrop for your wedding photos, such as the gazebo at Art Rudolph Sun and Shade Garden, Bamboo Grove, Asian Hillside Garden, and more.  

The price for a ceremony and reception booking at the Rutgers Gardens is roughly $2,800, with an extra $1,000 if booked for the weekends of May through October. The ceremony chairs can seat up to 50 guests but can add more guests with an extra $2.00 per chair.

The reception area has a capacity of 200 people. As another benefit, the Rutgers Gardens provide a log cabin and a pavilion for an indoor option for your ceremony or reception.

Located on the Old Queens Campus of Rutgers, Kirkpatrick Chapel was built in 1873 on top of a hill that overlooks the Raritan River in downtown New Brunswick.

Known for its Victorian Gothic architecture, Kirkpatrick Chapel has served as a top-rated wedding venue for couples across the nation. Its vibrant red interior design, arched columns, stained glass windows, and stone exterior presents a beautiful site for unique, yet traditional, wedding photos. 

Kirkpatrick Chapel is large enough to occupy 650 guests and sit 440 of those guests. This church charges $700 for the ceremony and extra for the use of the organ and piano or candle renting. The venue offers a winter wedding package of $110 per guest from December through March. You will be provided with the event coordinator, decorative and entertainment essentials, and price reduction for child guests.
