The Centre Country Historical Society is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1904 and preserves the area’s cultural and natural heritage. Being the country’s biggest and oldest history organization, the CCHS also owns the Centre Furnace Mansion, which also serves as a unique wedding venue for ceremonies and receptions. 

Known as the “birthplace of Penn State,” the historic venue dates back to the late 1700s. It contains landscaped grounds with tall, thick trees and beautiful gardens filled with many varieties of flowers like lilacs, roses, and more!

About a 10-minute drive from State College, PA, the Boal Estate is a mansion, museum, and venue. The mansion has belonged to the Boal family for eight generations for over 200 years. 

The historic venue contains the original furnishings and the Columbus Chapel, which contains European art and two pieces of wood believed to be from the cross of Jesus Christ. The Columbus Chapel was brought from Spain in 1909 after Theodore Davis Boal from the fourth generation married a descendant of Christopher Columbus who inherited the chapel. 

This beautiful site contains plenty of outdoor space, making it an ideal venue for an outdoor garden wedding ceremony and reception. Apart from the beautiful spacious lawn, consider using their newly restored Boal traveling coach from 1852 that will add a romantic touch to your big day. According to their website, they charge a $2,500 fee for wedding events.
