Use these ideas to create a magical Disney wedding celebration! You can create a wedding theme around one specific movie, like a Little Mermaid themed wedding, or you can go for a broader Disney theme and incorporate all of our decoration ideas and more!
Get Married at Disney World
If you’re a serious Disney fanatic, chances are you’ve considered getting married at one of their famous theme parks. While getting married at a Disney theme park can be expensive, it is a unique wedding opportunity with plenty of chances for great photos and fun attractions.
Disney offers a few different wedding packages for couples, so check out what options are out there if you want to have a truly Disney wedding in one of the parks or at one of their luxury hotels. There are also Disney cruise lines that you could get married on as well! Keep in mind that some of your guests may not be able to afford to travel depending on your proximity to the theme park of your choice.
Recreate Your Favorite Movie
If you have an all-time favorite Disney movie, consider recreating it for your wedding ceremony and reception! For a Frozen themed wedding, create a winter wonderland with plenty of snowflake and icy details.
If you love Peter Pan, create a Neverland themed reception complete with pixie dust, mermaids, pirates, and more. For a Beauty and the Beast wedding, use red roses in your floral arrangements and decorate with antique teapots, candlesticks, clocks, and more.
There are endless possibilities, and no one knows your favorite movie better than you, so consider how you can create a movie-specific wedding theme.
Themed Invitations
Make your Disney wedding apparent to guests from the start with themed invitations! You could incorporate some Disney puns like “Be our guest on our magical day” or even incorporate Disney images right on the invite!
One way to add some magic to your invitations is to use the classic Disney font! The font is called Waltograph, and it’s free to use if you download it here.
Disney Themed Bridal Shower
Do you love Disney, but you’re not sure if you want your entire wedding day to be Disney themed? Consider hosting a Disney bridal shower or engagement party instead! That way, you can use all your favorite Disney decorations and ideas without making it the focus of your big day.
All of the ideas on our list can easily be used at other pre-wedding events like showers, engagement parties, bachelor and bachelorette weekends, or even the rehearsal dinner. Embrace your inner Disney nerd to the fullest and keep your wedding day focused on romance.
Tangled Inspired Lantern Decor
One motif from the movie Tangled is the paper lanterns that Rapunzel and Flynn send off into the sky. This is a gorgeous idea for wedding receptions as well!
You could decorate your ceremony and reception with paper lanterns to add a soft glow, or use them as lighting at an outdoor wedding venue.
If you really want to recreate that scene from Tangled, you could even float lanterns into the night for a special moment at your wedding. Just make sure that you practice fire safety if you do this, and consider finding biodegradable lanterns so that you don’t harm the local environment!
Horse Drawn Carriage
Whether you ride off for your end of the night send off, or you use it as a decorative photo backdrop at the reception, consider a horse drawn carriage for a Disney princess moment! Create a real-life version of Cinderella’s carriage – you can even rent real horses to add to the magic!
If a full blown horse and carriage sounds like too much, you could create tiny pumpkin carriages like in the movie as a cute decoration!
Disney Wedding Songs
No Disney movie is complete without music, so create a Disney wedding playlist! You can include your favorite songs from Disney movies – there are modern covers of many of these songs if you want to elevate your soundtrack a bit.
You can also use classic Disney love songs for important moments on your wedding day, like the first dance, parent or sibling dances, or even music for your wedding ceremony.
Mickey & Minnie Cake Topper
One subtle touch to add is a Mickey and Minnie Mouse cake topper! There are plenty of cute cake topper ideas out there, so if Mickey and Minnie aren’t your style, pick a couple from your favorite movie!
For a spooky vibe, top your cake with Jack Skellington and Sally. For a light joke, consider the Princess and the Frog for your cake topper!
Disney Movie Wedding Table Names
Help guests find their way to their tables by creating a seating chart with tables named after Disney movies. Create table markers with a cartoon from that specific movie, or decorate the whole table based on the movie it’s assigned!
If you’re sticking to one single Disney movie, tables could be named after characters or other important elements to the movie. Want a spooky Disney vibe? Name all of the tables after villains!
Another fun idea for Disney couples is to name tables after rides in the theme parks!
Disney Themed Centerpieces
Complete your wedding table decor with Disney centerpieces. You could add a rose to each table in a glass cloche, a la Beauty and the Beast’s enchanted rose, or create a display of ruby red (poisoned) apples as homage to Snow White!
If you don’t want to stick to just one movie, consider using vintage looking story books as centerpieces.
If each table is based on a different movie, you can get really creative with centerpieces that reflect different Disney stories and characters!
Up Inspired Balloon Decor
Up was a sweet and heartwarming film with plenty of cute settings to recreate. If you want to use balloons to decorate your wedding venue, consider setting up an Up themed backdrop with plenty of balloons, just like the ones that carry away Carl’s house!
Alice in Wonderland Style Tea Party
Alice in Wonderland is one of the most visually interesting Disney films, and one of the most famous scenes is the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. Add an Alice-themed twist to your reception by setting up tables just like the tea party scene! Use colorful teapots and teacups, and even label glasses with “Drink me” parchment.
Not sure where to incorporate Alice in Wonderland? The dessert table would be the perfect spot to add this style of decor! You can even serve tea with your wedding cake and other desserts to complete the look.
Get Married at a Castle
For the true Disney princess experience, get married at a real life castle! You’d be surprised at just how many castle wedding venues are available, even in the United States.
Whether it’s a true castle or an old stone building with a fairytale look to it, you can feel like royalty on your wedding day.
Be Our Guest Buffet
Whether you set up a buffet or other food stations like grazing tables for guests to snack on, add a “Be Our Guest” theme as homage to Beauty and the Beast!
If you’re really committed to this idea, you could even try to create hors d’oeuvres to match the lyrics of the song. We’re not sure what “the grey stuff” could be, but we hear it’s delicious!
Bridal Tiaras
Look and feel like a princess by rocking a tiara on your wedding day!
This look isn’t far fetched for bridal fashion, so you can wear a subtle or even a modern tiara without going overboard. Emulate your favorite Disney princess by recreating her tiara or find one that fits your style.
Mickey Cufflinks
Add some Disney magic to the groom’s attire with Mickey Mouse cufflinks! This is a subtle touch but adds a nice flair to your tuxedo.
You can even get matching Mickey cufflinks as gifts for your groomsmen so that you all match the theme on the big day!
The Little Mermaid Beach Wedding
If you’re getting married on a beach, a boat, or any nautical location, consider a Little Mermaid themed affair! With a beachy theme already in mind, you can subtly include references to Ariel and all of her friends under the sea.
Use fishing net, starfish, sea sponges, sea shells, and more as unique centerpieces that match the nautical theme. Decorate with watercolors and other seaside looks, and even set up a dessert table that looks like Ursula’s lair with potion jars!
While seafood is a popular choice for a beach wedding, you may want to think twice about serving lobster – Sebastian might be offended.
Star Wars Wedding Theme
Star Wars is owned by Disney, so consider a wedding theme based on a galaxy far, far away. There are endless Star Wars wedding ideas to choose from, whether you love the classic movies or you’re an avid fan of the Mandalorian series!
Some of our favorite Star Wars ideas include a Cantina bar, lightsaber decor, and of course, Princess Leia buns. Create your own Leia and Han Solo moment with the famous lines, “I love you” – “I know”.
Snow White Apple Decor
Pay homage to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs with ruby red poisoned apples! Okay, maybe don’t include poison.
Apples are an affordable way to decorate, whether you use them as escort cards, table numbers, centerpieces, or just around the venue.
Disney Themed Desserts
Deck out your dessert table with Disney inspired desserts! There are endless ideas for sweet treats, from Mickey shaped cookies, cake pops, and rice crispies to desserts from classic Disney films.
If you love Sleeping Beauty, create a cake just like the three fairies made as they argued over pink vs. blue for Aurora. Bake with plenty of honey for a Winnie the Pooh themed dessert.
Create “Try Me” cookies a la Alice in Wonderland. Top your cupcakes with different colors and treats to create different Disney characters and references.
There are so many creative ways to make a delicious Disney dessert table!
Enchanted Forest Venue
If a castle doesn’t appeal to you, consider a forest wedding venue for an enchanted forest look! The enchanted forest is featured in plenty of Disney films, so you don’t have to commit to one movie to make this work.
Add some fairy lights, flowers, and other ethereal decor and you can transform any wooded area into a magical forest for your wedding.
Storybook Theme
Go for a broader fairytale wedding theme by focusing more on story book love as opposed to Disney specific decor. Throw yourself a “Once Upon a Time” wedding theme with rustic story books, fairy tale elements, and other whimsical and romantic decorations.
For a spooky storybook theme, consider steering away from Disney for a more Brothers Grimm gothic magical wedding!
Decorate with Disney Quotes
Disney stories are filled with love, so there are plenty of famous Disney quotes that you can incorporate into invitations, decor, and more. Consider these popular Disney quotes:
- “People do crazy things when they’re in love” – Meg, Hercules
- “You are my greatest adventure.” –Mr. Incredible, The Incredibles
- “Love is a song that never ends” – Bambi, Bambi
- “Because when I look at you, I can feel it. And I look at you and I’m home.” –Dory, Finding Nemo
- “Love is putting someone else’s needs before yours.” –Olaf, Frozen
- “My dream wouldn’t be complete without you in it.” – Princess Tiana, The Princess and the Frog
- “Can you feel the love tonight?” – Simba and Nala, The Lion King
- “ ‘Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind.” –Lilo, Lilo & Stitch
- “For it is plain as anyone can see. We’re simply meant to be.” –Jack Skellington, The Nightmare Before Christmas
- “Listen with your heart, you will understand.” – Grandmother Willow, Pocahontas
Add these famous quotes to signs at your wedding, use them on photo backdrops, or even include them on your wedding napkins!
End the Night with Fireworks
Anyone who’s visited a Disney theme park knows that the best nights end in fireworks! If it’s safe and legal at your venue, end your fairytale wedding with a gorgeous fireworks display.
Fairy Dust Wedding Exit
For your final wedding send off, let guests sprinkle you with fairy dust for a picture perfect end to the night.
Your version of fairy dust could be glitter or sparkly confetti.
Disney Honeymoon!
Complete your Disney wedding with a Disney honeymoon at one of the parks! There are Disney theme parks in Florida, California, Paris, and Tokyo, so there are plenty of options if you want to see some other sites on your romantic getaway.
